Chicharito on The "Monster" Rooney & Tevez Comparison

Javier Hernandez Javier Hernandez (R) of Manchester United battles with Stuart Holden of Bolton Wanderers during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers at Old Trafford on March 19, 2011 in Manchester, England.Javier Hernandez is living the dream. Playing regularly for Manchester United, scoring vital goals, getting on with your business and playing with some great players. Yet from all of his quotes and interviews, he seems so down to earth and grounded. The 22 year-old Mexican has been in sensational form in his first season in England, scoring a brilliant total of 16 goals so far and starting a very promising partnership with Wayne Rooney - pushing the Leagues top scorer, Dimitar Berbatov on the bench in the process.

'Chicharito', as he is known, spoke of Wayne Rooney, comparisons to the former United striker and current City player Carlos Tevez, and what his secret to success on the field is:
"Playing with Wayne is a dream. He's a monster to be alongside and I never believed I would get so many games and goals during my first season at United."
“'The Little Tevez'? I'm really proud that people are comparing me to him but I am Chicharito and am living my dreams at the moment.”
“I am very happy because I know there is much more to come. My secret is to study opposition defenders and work out their weak points."
"I try to outwit them with my speed and anticipation in the area. So my goals are not down to luck."
Hernandez was bought by Sir Alex Ferguson for £6 million this summer and is probably the buy of the season. When you consider Chelsea's splurge of money on Torres and Manchester City's £30 buy of Edin Dzeko, Chicharito looks such a great buy for the club.

His impressive performances in last years World Cup saw him score a few vital goals including one against France and one against Argentina, and the former Guadalajara player believes that the physical aspect of the game in better in England:
“Perhaps the better physical preparation here in England is the key to my performances. This aspect of the game is better than in South America and I have profited.”
Now Hernandez will be hoping United can push on after the international break and go on to cement their place at the top of the Premier League, and progress against City and Chelsea in the FA Cup and Champions League respectively.

The Sickening Thought of Fabregas At Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal celebrates at the end of the FA Cup sponsored by E.On Third Round Replay match between Leeds United and Arsenal at Elland Road on January 19, 2011 in Leeds, England. If Liverpool fans had an appalling disgust which turned their stomachs seeing Fernando Torres wearing the blue of Chelsea, just think of the unimaginable repulsion Arsenal fans might feel if they were to set their eyes upon their talismanic captain, Cesc Fabregas scurrying around the pitch wearing the Chelsea kit. That tiny strip of red around the neck of the Chelsea strip would be a sickening reminder of the wonders Fabregas produced at the Emirates with his vision, creativity, and an innate understanding of timing and space being used against Arsenal for the blues.

That would be the situation if the current Arsenal captain would agree to a reported move worth £50 million funded by Chelsea's billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich. Several newspapers have splashed the news across their back pages, with Arsenal fans, and perhaps even Barcelona fans feeling their heart skip a beat or two before realising that it must be just another ludicrous rumour which, even if it were true, Wenger and those in charge at Arsenal would never agree to.

Fabregas would surely not disrespect the club he has stayed so loyal to for so long by moving across London to join his clubs relatively local rivals while joining his compatriot Fernando Torres in attempting to lift the Premier League trophy.
The Daily Mail says: "...billionaire Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly set his sights on gazumping a rival bid from Barcelona and will launch a £50m bid for the Spain international in the summer."

Football is dominated by money. Some club owners give it away like cheap sweets, footballers take it and ask for more like little children, and football agents take up the parenting role by telling their clients what they should and shouldn't be having. Surely though, players like Fabregas, who clearly love football, and have loyalty tattooed into their hearts do not find money as the main attraction to play for a club.

Fabregas has been loyal to Arsenal, but has an obvious love for Barcelona - a love he cannot really be blamed for. He was a Barcelona supporter as a child as he grew up there, and they now play some of the best football with the best players in the world while they win trophies left right and centre; currently sitting comfortably top of La Liga - he has reason to be attracted to them.
Apart from a slightly improved chance of winning the English Premier League and a bigger salary, I can't think why the little play maker would want to go to Chelsea from Arsenal.

In the end, it is all about the players decision, and, in conclusion, any possible move to Chelsea is pretty much out of the question for Fabregas if he keeps to his word. Remember:

“If I decide to leave Arsenal, it will be to wear the shirt of Barcelona
and
“If I leave, it will only for Barcelona. I just wish to leave, whether they [Barcelona] want me or not,”

Reina: Torres was Right To Leave

Pepe Reina Pepe Reina of Liverpool stretches during a training session ahead of their UEFA Europa League Group K match against Utrecht at Melwood Training Ground on December 14, 2010 in Liverpool, England. When you hand a transfer request in to your club who have supported you, stayed loyal to you, sang your name and made excuses for your inconsistencies and bad form, you might expect a bad reaction. So when Fernando Torres did just that, Liverpool fans were not the happiest - with the overriding feeling of utter disappointment and in some cases, the burning of his number 9 red shirt.

He will be facing his former team mates on Sunday, and, playing in blue, the Spanish star will be trying his utmost to do something that he has struggled to do all season; score a goal - or even, just to play well. He will therefore, be aiming to get the ball past Pepe Reina in the Liverpool goal. It may be surprising then, that Reina is actually in support of Torres' move away from Liverpool.
The goalkeeper said:
"He decided to leave because he thought it was an opportunity to keep growing as a player and we have to respect that. Some of the people are saying he's being disrespectful with Liverpool, but all that Fernando gave to Liverpool was huge."
"He grew up as a Liverpool player and Liverpool has also grown as he's been a player on the team. At the end of the day, it's daily business, players come and go. It's the club and supporters who are the most important thing for the club."
"Fernando was great for us for three-and-a-half seasons, and we wish him all the best. I think he did everything for this club."
"He maybe didn't leave at the right time, but it was an opportunity for him and he left $50m in the bank which was double the price that he was."
Someone who knows all about loyalty is Jamie Carragher, and even he had to admit that Torres was a fantastic player in his time at Liverpool and it was the right time for him to go:
"I think it was probably better that Fernando moved on if he didn't 100 percent want to be here or it was going to happen in the summer.
"It's probably better for everyone all round. I think it's been in the offing since the summer. We always felt that at some stage this season, or maybe the end of the season, this may happen."
"Whether people agree with how he's gone, supporters can't deny he was an absolutely fantastic player for Liverpool."
I think they are fair comments, and understandable from guys who played with Torres when he was banging in goals for fun in his first season at Liverpool, but what was disappointing was the way he went, and his comments afterwards that have angered some Liverpool fans. Comments like this:
"The target for every player is to play for one of the tops clubs in the world and I can do it now, so I'm very happy."

Liverpool will have the chance to exact revenge on the man they formerly adored at Anfield tomorrow with their new idol, Luiz Suarez leading the front. It will be tough for Liverpool, but if they can pull off the win against Chelsea and complete the double over them this season, they could be well on their way to a good run of wins and perhaps even scrape fourth?....or fifth.

Watch: Suarez Scores on Debut for Liverpool

Luis Suarez Luis Suarez of Liverpool celebrates with team mate Dirk Kuyt (L) after Andy Wilkinson of Stoke City scored an own goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Stoke City at Anfield on February 2, 2011 in Liverpool, England.Below you can see the two goals scored by Liverpool to propel them to seventh spot in the Premier League as they continue their inspired revival under the returned Anfield legend, Kenny Dalglish.

Their new number seven, Luis Suarez ,would have been dreaming of the perfect start to his Liverpool career and try to emulate his manager's time wearing the iconic seven shirt. The Uruguayan may not have struck the cleanest strike as he grabbed his first Liverpool goal in front of his now adoring fans, but if he continues to show his obvious quality, he will have chances in abundance to slot a clean strike into the oppositions net and win games for Liverpool.

In the absence of a scruffy haired, sulking Spaniard moping slowly around the pitch looking utterly disinterested and waiting for the game to finish without contributing a thing - apparently worth £50 million, the teams morale was not brought down, as instead of the grumpy Torres, they saw they enthusiasm and hard work of Dirk Kuyt ad Raul Meireles up front. Suarez joined them in the second half.

Liverpool however, will face a bigger test on the week end when they face Chelsea and the £50 million man himself. But for now: Torres who? Enjoy:

Transfer Deadline Day Roundup: £214,525,000

Andy Carroll Andy Carroll of Newcastle United looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle United and Liverpool at St James' Park on December 11, 2010 in Newcastle, England. We have all been treated to quite a large slice of juicy transfer dealings this January in the busiest January transfer window I can remember. It has been absolute chaos as clubs have paid well over the odds for transfer targets - many of those clubs leaving their dealings to the very last minute in what has become a fashionable feature of these windows.

Firstly, Chelsea spent big. Very big. Roman Abramovich took a massive leap of faith and once again dipped into his deep, deep pockets to revive the Chelsea team to its winning ways once again. Just to reiterate how deep Abramovich's pockets actually are, the Russian billionaire pulled out a mightily generous £75 million in just one day to sign both Torres of Liverpool and David Luiz of Benfica.

As news broke that Fernando Torres had decided his future did not lie with Liverpool and so handed in a transfer request to his club among bids from Chelsea, Premier League teams and managers must have been bracing themselves for an invasion. Liverpool needed a new striker. They needed striker who could, to some degree replace the Spaniard and someone who could score goals - match winning goals to pull Liverpool up the table and push for that all important 4th spot. They would be guaranteed a lot of money to spend, but very little time to spend it in.

Liverpool got their £50 million - a massive amount for a striker off form, apparently always unhappy, and prone to injuries in what is likely to turn out to be a better deal for Liverpool than Chelsea. Liverpool also got Andy Carroll.

They already had Luis Suarez in the bag, and wanted someone with Premier League experience. They went for Newcastle number 9, Andy Carroll. A £25 million bid was rejected, and Newcastle asked for more. A second Liverpool bid was submitted, and rejected again, this time for £30 million, but the final bid was the one that sealed the deal. Carroll had submitted a transfer request - obviously unsettled by the interest of Liverpool, and a £35 million offer was too much for Newcastle to refuse.

Now Newcastle had £35 million, and even less time to replace their top striker. They were linked with Carlton Cole, Emile Heskey and Bolton's Johan Elmander - the latter rumour being fuelled by the fact that Chelsea's Danny Sturridge was being lined up for Bolton as a replacement. In the end, Newcastle failed to sign any one of those mentioned, but they did show some signs of life with £10, and then £12 million bids for Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia. Wigan saw the efforts as too late in the day, and both offers were rejected.

Charlie Adam of Blackpool stayed put in a bit of an anti-climax. Everyone thought that he was being driven to Liverpool by a car sent by Liverpool to sign for Liverpool. That rumour was probably started by an over enthused Liverpool supporter. It didn't turn out to be true, and even late bids from Tottenham were not enough to see the stubborn Blackpool manager Ian Holloway rethink his decision and Adam was to stay.

Shaun Wright Phillips was subject to interest from several clubs, none of which wanted to part with any money to bring him to their clubs. Newcastle, Bolton, West Ham, Everton and Portsmouth all tried to take Wright-Phillips out on loan. None were successful.

Stephen Ireland, who hasn't had the best time at Aston Villa has joined Newcastle, but none of that £35 million from the Carroll sale was spent, as it is only a loan deal. The 24-year-old has so far made 13 appearances – eight starts and five as substitute - in all competitions in claret and blue and ironically made his Villa debut against Newcastle at St James Park.

That covers most of the main transfers, but if you want to see a full list of every in and out this transfer window click here.

Manchester United and Arsenal were looking on in shock most probably at the enormous amounts of money being thrown around by their rivals. Both Ferguson and Wenger have been in agreement that there has been no real value in the transfer market and they were unlikely to add to their squad. With number like £50 million, £35 million and £25 million being coughed up for players, United and Arsenal probably did the right thing in keeping out of it. Neither club would be willing to spend that much on a player anyway.

Gasp in shock at the number that has been spent in just 31 day: £214,525,000. Just look at the number, and think what you would do with that. Of all the things that over two hundred million pounds could be spent on, it is spent on individuals who play football every week. The numbers are astonishing, but it is the quality of the football we all want to see now, not the vast amounts being spent.

Carroll to Liverpool Confirmed, Adam on His Way

Liverpool announced on their website that the club have agreed a fee for Newcastle and England striker Andy Carroll. The deal is apparently worth in excess of £35 million, which is absolute madness when you consider Torres was bought for £20 million in 2007, while David Villa, World Cup winner and proven goalscorer was bought by Barcelona for £34 million.

There is a whole host of players that can be named who were bought for better value in the market, and considering Carroll has only spent 6 months in the Premier League with a newly promoted side, it is certainly a big gamble for Liverpool as they throw over half the expected transfer money from the Torres sale at Newcastle's gaping mouth and impossibly wide eyes probably filled with pound signs.

I suspect the hefty price is to do with the fact that Carroll is English, which always raises the price of players; Darren Bent and James Milner for example. Not to mention the fact that Liverpool are desperate to find a Torres replacement before the window closes, and will evidently do all they can to find one.

Charlie Adam of Blackpool is on his way to Liverpool in a car sent by Liverpool to sign for Liverpool. The car is an Audi, if that is of any importance. Oh yes, and the deal is reportedly worth £14 million. Madness.

But let us remember, that it is goals that win games, not massive transfer fees, so the players that are bought, although massively overpriced with inflated figures of stunning magnitude, must have time to prove their worth with the thing that counts the most - match winning goals.

Today's Transfer News

Gareth Bale Gareth Bale of Spurs goes off injured during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park on January 22, 2011 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. There has been a surprising amount of big name and big money moves going on this window, especially considering that the January window is usually quite slow and over hyped. Names such as Fernando Torres, Gareth Bale, Andy Carroll, Sulley Muntari and Stephane Sessegnon are the big names today, the day after Luis Suarez finally signed for Liverpool.

First of all, is Luis Suarez the partner or replacement for Torres at Anfield? The Spanish striker has submitted a transfer request to his club which has swiftly been rejected with a club statement asking Torres to honor the commitment he made to both Liverpool and the fans. His current contract ends in 2013, and it is believed that Chelsea have offered £35 million for the privilege of Torres playing in the blue shirt. Liverpool are now awaiting an improved offer, and despite a reported bid of £40 million and Danny Sturridge in the pipeline, Liverpool will do everything they can to fend Chelsea off their star striker.

Gareth Bale hasn't expressed his desire to leave Tottenham like Torres has Liverpool, but he is certainly attracting attention from top clubs around Europe. Inter Milan have felt the full force of Bale's brilliant left foot already and feel it would be better for them if he was on their side rather than the oppositions. However, they don't want to pay the £40 million valuation that Spurs have placed on Bale. Inters sporting director said that he received an email from the Tottenham chairman stating £40 million wouldn't be enough, and the Inter director replied by saying that the large amount isn't compatible with their strategies.
Perhaps Liverpool should value Torres at something ridiculous and get rid of pursuers that way?

Newcastle have rejected a bid for Andy Carroll of £23 million. The Magpies have once again been forced to reiterate the simple fact that the England striker is not for sale, and a Newcastle source called the bid 'paltry in the current climate'. The strikers 11 goals this season have helped his club to a respectable 9th in the League, and it his frightening presence up the field that has made him such a threat for Newcastle against opposing defenders that is attracting Spurs. Spurs know from Bale, that clubs with good players can be ever so stubborn about letting them go.

As Newcastle try to fight off interest for top players, their local rivals Sunderland are bringing them in as they try and snatch a European place. Inter Milan may not want to part with £40 million, but they don't mind letting Sulley Muntari go. Muntari is no £40 million, but he is still a good player, and certainly someone who can help out alongside Lee Cattermole in the Sunderland midfield.

Muntari is on loan until the end of the season, and the 26 year-old said of his move: "It feels great to be at Sunderland and to be back in English football. I'm very happy and from what I have seen here, it's going to be great."

Another 26 year-old joining Muntari at Sunderland is Stephane Sessegnon, for £6 million. The midfielder, who is described by his new manager Steve Bruce as someone who "can play on the left, on the right, through the middle - he's lightning quick and he's a match-winner." Bruce added that he thinks that Sessegnon will be a crowd favourite at the Stadium of Light. He has a while to prove his worth to the fans, as he signed a three and a half year deal at Sunderland.

Finally, Carlos Vela has officially joined West Brom on loan. The Arsenal striker was strongly linked to a move to Bolton, and Owen Coyle revealed that he had spoken to the players agent, but after being demanded to pay both the wages of the player and additional fees, pulled out.
Vela made only 13 appearances for Arsenal this season and 62 in total, scoring 11 times for the Gunners and the the West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo welcomed Vela to his club:
''I'd like to officially welcome Carlos, who is an exciting signing for this club. Carlos is a new attacking option for us who can play both centrally and in the wide areas.
''He also has great technical ability and pace and we're hoping he can make a big impact during the remainder of the season."

Suarez - Torres Partner or Replacement?

Fernando Torres Fernando Torres of Liverpool looks dejected during the Barclays Premier League match between Blackpool and Liverpool at Bloomfield Road on January 12, 2011 in Blackpool, England.Just when things were looking good for Liverpool, along come Chelsea to ruin it. Liverpool have had a bid accepted for Ajax striker Luis Suarez, a top quality proven striker that could be the perfect foil for the out of form Fernando Torres. But while the Liverpool fans had a chance to imagine the beautiful link up and combination play that Torres and Suarez could perform together, banging in goal after goal and rejuvenating the Liverpool side to pull them back up the table, Chelsea bid a tempting £35 million.

Those dreams have been interrupted, temporarily at least, as Torres has apparently asked Liverpool not to just dismiss the offer, but to listen to it - to consider it. The offer has of course been rejected by Liverpool who value their star striker far higher than £35 million, but if Torres wants reconsideration, his heart and head can't be in the cause. His performances on the field suggest exactly that, with him dipping in and out of matches and not performing anywhere near the quality expected of him.

Since writing Torres has submitted a transfer request, and had it rejected by Liverpool. A Liverpool statement read:
"Torres has this even submitted a transfer request - this request has been rejected."
Some reports suggest that Chelsea will return with a renewed offer of £40 million and English striker Danny Sturridge. In Torres' current poor form and irritating knack for picking up strangely soft injuries this is certainly an offer that should be considered. The Reds have been linked to Danny Sturridge in the past, with the former Manchester City man reportedly asking to go out on loan to Liverpool for more first team opportunities. Sturridge is a very promising young striker, and has the ability to easily nail his name to the Liverpool team sheet on a regular basis, with Liverpool's attacking force still low on numbers despite the excellent addition of Suarez. They would then also have the £40 million to do what they like with; bring in a new left and/or right back, a winger and a creative midfielder, all involved in the process of building a new team for Kenny Dalglish.

If it is true that Torres has effectively asked to leave, it is a doubly big blow for Liverpool who thought the addition of a big name striker would persuade Torres of the high future aspirations of the club. Torres must know that he isn't playing well, and his team have been playing much the same for the whole season, so a way out for him to a club who, although not having a great second half of the season, look more likely to nick a Champions League spot, is an improvement.

So, Suarez may not even get the chance to play alongside Fernando Torres despite his multi-million pound move, and may have to settle for either David N'gog or Danny Sturridge.

I can't really see Torres moving to Chelsea, mainly because Liverpool will do everything they can to keep him. If Torres wants to go and makes it very clear he wants to go, then a deal would look more likely, but with the limited amount of time before the window shuts, Liverpool's stubbornness to keep their star strike should be enough to fend off pursuers for at least the summer window.

This is yet another transfer saga ready to drag itself through every news source possible until the summer, unless of course Torres dismisses the rumours and expresses his loyalty to the club. I hate hearing that ever familiar line we hear from footballers that although very true, is also very uninspiring not at all reassuring for fans: "Anything can happen in football".

Wolves 0 - 3 Liverpool: Watch Match Goals

Wolves 0 - 3 Liverpool: Watch Match Goals Here

Kenny Dalglish - Liverpool v Everton - Premier LeagueFernando Torres scores two tap-ins and Raul Meireles scores a wonder goal to seal Kenny Dalglish's first win since his return to management with Liverpool.
As you would expect, Kenny Dalglish was delighted at his teams performance - an obvious improvement from the previous meeting between the two sides, when Wolves left Anfield with a shocking 3 points as Roy Hodgson headed for the exit:
"The feeling is elation because we won 3-0. Everyone is happy - the defence, the forwards. We got the success because we played as a team. Hopefully we can build on that.
"Wolves have been in a good vein of form and have beaten Chelsea here. For us to come along, play like that and go home with three goals and none against is a fantastic effort. It was not a flattering result. The players got what they deserved. It was a credit to their belief, hard work, effort and determination throughout the game."
“If you don’t compete at Molineux, you will walk away with nothing but a defeat. The players showed a lot of pride in their performance and pride in the football club. The way they have responded to Stevey Clarke, myself and Sammy Lee since we came in is great credit to them.”

The Wolves manager, Mick McCarthy told of how the influence of Liverpool legend Dalglish played a big part in his sides disappointing loss, especially when Wolves won the previous fixture under Roy Hodgson, whom McCarthy has sympathy for:
"We beat them when Roy was there. He is such a great guy and a top coach but it is Kenny Dalglish coming out of the stand.
"I think he is enjoying a support and a warmth Roy didn't. He has garnered and nurtured that and they are on a better roll than they were because of it."
Liverpool still have a lot of work to do to get his side back to their best, as Wolves aren't exactly the hardest opposition as they languish in the relegation zone, but Meireles' improvement over the past few games as well as Fernando Torres getting back on the score sheet can only be good for the Reds. The transfer window remains open, and Liverpool look keen on both Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam and Ajax striker Luis Suarez - both of whom would strengthen the Liverpool side. However, Ajax have warned Liverpool to get on with negotiations, as they won't sell at the last minute because they need time to find a replacement.

A good game for Liverpool, but will it continue?

It's Not All Hodgson's Fault

Roy Hodgson Liverpool Manager Roy Hodgson looks dejected during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on December 29, 2010 in Liverpool, England.WARNING: The below article will be deeply unpopular with the majority of Liverpool fans' current views. Read at your own risk.

The latest Liverpool defeat has only magnified Liverpool fans anger with the manager Roy Hodgson. If ever there was an example of a football manager under pressure, it is Hodgson at this very moment. Nothing he does pleases Liverpool fans. Nothing that he says Liverpool fans like. No decision that he makes is agreed with. Not because they are all wrong actions, wrong things to say and wrong decisions, but simply because the majority of Liverpool fans have made up their minds about him. They don't like him.

I have massive sympathy in this respect for Hodgson. The blame seems to be solely heaped onto him, with even players performances blamed on his tactics. In my opinion, the players should be taking far more of the stick that Liverpool fans are dishing out. They are simply not playing well enough. That is a fact. They have the ability, but are not showing it, and because of this, results are very poor, leading the fans to look for someone to blame. They can blame the players, but that would achieve nothing. Blaming the manager could get him sacked, and a far easier option for everyone. Solution? Blame the manager. For everything. Get him sacked. Get a new manager. Liverpool will be great again.

It doesn't work like that. But at the moment, that's all I see happening. He needs a chance to be given money, bring in some players, and stamp his authority on the team. Liverpool were hardly the best team at the end of Bentiez's reign, and turning around a club in the situation that Liverpool were in was never going to happen over the course of a couple of months. Anyone who thought that were deluding themselves.

In relation to the Wolves loss; Wolves were bottom of the league. Man for man, Liverpool are a better side. Liverpool had Gerrard and Torres - world class players. Unless Hodgson's tactics involved "lose the game" or something to that effect, the players should have done a whole lot better and won the game. There was a lack of togetherness, and very few players showed any sign of leading the team - standing up and being counted but we all know that the players are capable.
Hodgson said after the game:
"We are not deliberately losing matches. You know what these players are capable of. All I can say is that it is time for people to help us along. We lacked quality and confidence."
In my opinion, there are a few things that the Liverpool team need.

Firstly, they need the support and backing from the Liverpool fans. Abusing the manager isn't going to make his job any easier, and having him sacked will not only cost the club money.

The team needs some new faces of quality. For that to happen, the board need to give the manager money to spend and prove that he has their support.

The players must come together, as a team, and fight for their club, for their fans, and for their manager. They must show their quality, and they must prove that they are worthy to wear the red of Liverpool and play at
their famous ground in front of thousands of expecting fans.

Finally, the manager. Although he has had  rough start, it is up to him to turn it around. He knows that his reign so far has been disappointment, and he would have hoped that it would have gone better, but he is a very good manager. He knows his football, and he is certainly good enough to manage Liverpool.

The only way Liverpool get out of the mess they are in is if they pull together and start to play as well as we all know they can. Lest Liverpool fans forget the famous song that they sing; it seems to me as if Liverpool fans are letting Hodgson walk through the storm by himself.

Liverpool Links with Ronaldinho, Ashley Young and Suarez Untrue Says Roy

Ashley Young Ashley Young of Aston Villa in action during a training session at Villa Park on October 25, 2010 in Birmingham, England.Transfer rumours have grown over the past few years. They have moved on from things you may hear of various rumours here and there over the course of the season as well as a couple of times during the transfer window, and then the deal is done. They are now fully blown stories on players thinking of moving, agents asking or more money, hinting at a move, players going to leave then deciding against it, with blogs like this one circulating the latest gossip on players moving to what club and for how much, and so on.

But Roy Hodgson has dismissed the latest links to Brazilian Ronaldinho, Aston Villa pacey winger Ashley Young and biting "cheat" Luis Suarez. Hodgson, who has been under big pressure to turn Liverpool into a title challenging team again since taking over as manager, said the following:
"Ronaldinho and Suarez are players who we have never even thought about but I would think there is not a manager in the Premier League who has not given Ashley Young a thought at some stage or another,"
"But giving a player a thought and thinking 'This is a good player' and signing him are two vastly different things.
"I could give you quite a long list of players in the Premier League who I admire and think are very good."
The "list" that Hodgson refers to probably includes every Fulham player that he managed at his time at Craven Cottage. Them, and the recent players linked to a move to Anfield. Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia may be in Hodgson's mind as well as Ryan Shawcross of Stoke City. But lets listen to what Roy ha to say some more:
"But there is no truth in the rumour. If you are asking if there are any negotiations taking place between Aston Villa and Liverpool, then there aren't."

Hodgson is also comfortable with his position at the club due to the new owners and their dedication to the Liverpool cause:
"We have got new owners who are working unbelievably hard and putting in enormous hours at the club, both here physically, as they are at the moment, and even when they are in America spending hours studying games and liaising with us here"

They will all agree then, that Liverpool need to add to their squad in January. Back up players and a new energy is needed in most positions; a partner for Torres and a midfielder with a passing ability, vision and stability like Xabi Alonso who they lost to Madrid and still haven't replaced. In addition to a strong centre back, to fill in for the injured Jamie Carragher while possibly partnering or replacing him in the future.

Hodgson knows additions to his squad must be made, and I am pretty sure he will act on this knowledge, because if Liverpool do not build on their recent current good form, then Hodgson's time could be coming to an end at Liverpool as fans become frustrated with him.

Liverpool 3 - 0 Aston Villa - Video Goals

Ryan Babel Ryan Babel of Liverpool in action during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and West Ham United at Anfield on November 20, 2010 in Liverpool, England.Liverpool moved up to 8th in the League with a 3 - 0 win over Aston Villa and their former Liverpool manager, Gerard Houllier. Liverpool didn't play brilliantly, but Aston Villa were very poor; offering nothing in the attack, and switching off at the back for the three goals.
Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres were all missing for Liverpool, something that fans may have worried about, as they haven't been in the best form when those key players were in the team. The losses however did not have a bad effect on the team at Anfield, and the two strikers, David Ngog and Ryan Babel stepped up to score the opening two goals and setting up the win for Liverpool.

Liverpool 2 - 0 Chelsea - Terrific Torres too Much for Chelsea

Fernando Torres Fernando Torres of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield on November 7, 2010 in Liverpool, England.Liverpool defeated the Champions in their best performance of the season which saw Fernando Torres score two brilliant goals to turn the corner for Liverpool to put smiles on every Liverpool fans' faces.

Liverpool started brightly, and with a nice dink over the Chelsea defenders by Dirk Kuyt to Torres, fit or not fit, there would be only one end to this Liverpool attack. He may have miss hit the ball into the ground, but this Spanish striker knows where the goal is, and it past Petr Cech in goal to set Liverpool off.

The second goal came at a great time. Just before half time, Meireles fed in Torres on the left hand side, and after cutting inside onto his right foot, curled a beauty into the top corner of the Chelsea net - nothing Cech could do.
His touch was much improved, and he worked much harder than previous performances this season. The early goal obviously helped his confidence, and he went on to put in a man of the match performance. He was able to lead from the front and set a standard for the rest of the team.

Gerrard was once again exceptional, and Carragher at the back was, as always a fearless defender who put his body on the line to keep Chelsea out. One chance, after a powerful Anelka shot that Reina bearly saved, the ball bounced off of the top of the crossbar, and was about to be met with a tap-in from Didier Drogba. Jamie Carragher however, was in his way, and shepharded the ball back into Reina's hands. Drogba knew the chance was a brilliant one, but he acknowledged too that the defending was brilliant.

The second half was defend, defend, defend from Liverpool who desperatley needed to hold onto their lead. Chelsea wouldn't give up, and created enough chances to score at least one goal. But the resiliant togetherness from Liverpool kept the two goal lead, and the valuable three points.

Liverpool are now up to ninth in the League, and Chelsea only two points ahead of Manchester United. Out of the bottom half, and having just beaten the English Champions, it may be too soon to say that Liverpool are "back", but slowly, and steadily, they are getting there.

Vagner Love to Liverpool?

Vagner Love Vagner Love of PFC CSKA Moscow in action during the Russian Football League Championship match between FC Saturn Moscow Oblast and PFC CSKA Moscow at the Saturn Stadium on October 31, 2010 in Ramenskoe, Russia.97 goals in six seasons, Brazilian, and relatively cheap - it's just what Liverpool need, isn't it? Vagner Love, the CSKA Moscow striker is being linked with Liverpool after Roy Hodgson hinted at several new signings to improve his struggling squad.

Hodgson is in particular in the market for an out and out striker, of real quality, to partner Fernando Torres up front. Torres has been going through a quite long difficult period recently in which he has been way off form, and a top quality striker, such as Love, who can support him would be welcomed by the Spanish star.

Reports vary as to how much Hodgson will have to spend in the upcoming January transfer window, but it is thought hat the new owners will give the former Fulham manager around £35 million to spend. It is also thought, that Vagner Love would leave the Russian club for a fee in the region of £10 million, however, predictions differ.

The player, who is distinguished by is colourful braids, has played 20 times for his nation, and scored 4 goals, while scoring a career club total of 154 in 269 games. Evidently, he has no lack of experience, and would add his footballing knowledge to Liverpool, who seem to be using more and more younger players like Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing.

In the current situation of the club, Liverpool would welcome any decent players into their team, especially if they offer someting attacking, and different. Vagner Love does that.

Manchester United and Liverpool aim for Spanish Striker

Fernando Llorente Fernando Llorente of Spain celebrates after scoring his team's first goal during the EURO 2012 Qualifying Group I match between Spain and Lithuania at the Helmantico stadium on October 8, 2010 in Salamanca, Spain. It could soon be Fernando Torres and Fernando Llorente paired up-front on the Liverpool team sheet - if rumours are to be believed. The 25 year old Spanish international recently broke Scottish hearts with a winner for Spain in a Euro 2012 qualifier, and he could soon be setting the Premier League on fire alongside his Spanish team-mate Fernando Torres.

Under new ownership, Liverpool are beginning in their new generation, with investment in players high on the list of Liverpool's priorities. The striker currently plays at Athletico Bilbao, and they will looking for around £17 million for their star striker. This seems a realistic sum for Liverpool's new owners to afford, as they admit themselves that Liverpool need a lot of work.

Llorente would be a great signing for Liverpool. He stands at 6 foot 5 inches tall, and therefore has a very physical, enforcing presence in he box. He is a good header of the ball, and a good finisher. He already has a connection with Fernando Torres in that they are both Spanish, so it would be very interesting to see how a partnership like this does. No doubt Liverpool are in dire need of an out and out striker - Llorente fits the bill.

However, Liverpool fans my ask the question - why get a big striker when the delivery is not present thanks to the lack of actual wingers? Benayoun and Reira have come and gone without great success. Ryan Babel and Joe Cole are the biggest names who could play on the wing for Liverpool, but they both feel that their best position is down the centre supporting the striker. Without a good delivery into the box, the two Fernando's (if the deal materialises) could become very frustrated due to the lack of service. Yet another problem for Hodgson to solve.

Alternatively, it could be Wayne Rooney Dimitar Berbatov and Fernando Llorente paired up on the Manchester United team sheet, with Ferguson looking or a new striker to replace Rooney due to his inevitable departure from Manchester United. However, be wary United fans, as Manchester United will be "connected to", "interested in" or "monitering" every striker who even slightly hints that they could leave their club at some point in the future. Benzema, Suarez, Aguero, Forlan, Kaka, Sneijder among others (including Fernado Torres!) have already been named as possible players that could in some way fill the void of Wayne Rooney - and he hasn't even left yet.

Liverpool Receive Two Bids for Takeovers

John W Henry-Fenway.jpg
Potential Liverpool
Owner: John Henry
Liverpool have received "two excellent financial offers" to purchase the club. One of which is from more Americans in the owner of Boston Red Sox, a proffessional baseball team, while the other bid is reportedly from a Far East Consortium.

Liverpool fans simply want to get out of the miserable times that they find themselves in. They want stability
to the club, on and off the pitch. They want the new owners to be prepared to spend money to invest in new players and build a stronger team. They want the new owners to be prepared to show commitment and be in the club for the long haul, and not just come in, then realise it was going to be tough and leave. But most of all, Liverpool fans don't want to hear any more empty promises and lies.

Vitally important too, is the need to get out of the debt that the club is in, which is rumoured to be around £237 million. So, these "excellent" offers that Liverpool have apparently received need to be from either a person or group whom are massively passionate about Liverpool football club and amazingly rich, or amazingly rich and amazingly crazy. They will have to rummage through their pockets for probably over £850 - 900 million, with the current owners, Hicks and Gillet holding out for £600 million. The debt will then have to be payed, and then new players will be demanded.

Tom Hicks and George Gillet, the current American owners are extremely unpopular among the Liverpool fans, and the fans blame the owners for Liverpool's current bad form and fall from grace. Only five years ago Liverpool were celebrating a Champions League win against AC Milan. Now, even though the season is in it's early months, Liverpool are in the relegation zone. It isn't too silly to suggest that Liverpool could be going from Champions League to Championship in a matter of years. If these bids are not succesful and these American owners stay in control, the future could be disastrous for Liverpool.

Liverpool Bag Defender and Midfielder

£10.7 Million Replacement
Roy Hodgson moved quickly to strengthen his squad after the departure of Javier Mascherano by quickly using the funds from his sale to invest in a replacement. A more attacking one at that, but one who will give good support to the attacking players like Torres, Gerrard and Cole in Raul Meireles.

The Portugese midfielder played well in the World Cup alongside fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, so he is no stranger to playing with quality players. And now he has the chance to prove his worth at Liverpool, as he tries to live up to the £10.7 million that Liverpool have splashed out on him. The Portugese came from FC Porto who wanted to make some money out of him now, worrying that, with only two years left on his contract, that he could go for a free in two years time.

Konchesky
The spending for Liverpool doesn't stop there, as Paul Konchesky will undergo a medical to join Liverpool over the week-end. Hodgson confirmed that he had spoken to his former player earlier in the week, and with Fulham already prepared to let him go after bringing in a replacent yestarday in Carlos Salcedo, the move seems inevitable.

All Liverpool need now is a striker. With the only real established striker at the club being Fernando Torres, with David N'gog still learning, Liverpool still need a quality finisher in backup for some extra fire power. Reports suggest that this could be Carlton Cole of West Ham.

£70 Million for Torres? Take it Hodgson.

Manchester City seem to be the only team making any transfer headlines this summer and it will probably be like that for the next few summers until the Arabs get bored and go and find something else to spend their money on. But for now, we will have to put up with endless rumours involving City and their millions, spending completely stupid amounts of money on average players, and even more stupid money on the better players.

There is no doubt that Fernando Torres is one of the best strikers in the world. He proved that time and time again at Liverpool by scoring goal after goal. But Liverpool bought him for about £20 million pounds. Apparently, City are prepared to smash the English transfer record by making Liverpool a £50 million profit for the striker. Thats £70 million. If that actually is the offer, Roy Hodgson should take it and run. Knowing City, he may even be able to squeeze another £10 million out of the Arabs, they'll just get it back in pocket money next week any way.

Torres has been picking up a lot of injuries, mainly because he is so difficult to tackle, and so defenders have no other alternative but to hack his legs off. But as a result of this dangerous tackle theme with Torres, he gets a few recurring injuries. Last season, when Torres was out, all Liverpool had was David N'gog. Thats the equivalent of Man United having Rooney injured and only having Danny Welbeck to replace him. Not good. But with £70 million, Hodgson could work wonders. It would change everything. He could bring in another 3 quality strikers. He did a great job at Fulham with only about £7 million - better, in fact than Liverpool in the Europa League.

So if I was Hodgson, I would take the amazing offer and give away a world class player and bring in two or three fresh faces which would in the long term strengthen the squad whilst stabalising the team. In addition, with Mascherano looking like he wants to go for £30 million, either buy a cheaper replacement or pay off some of that massive debt!
